Participants of the 2017 Face of America Liberty must bring their own bicycle or hand cycle to the ride. There will not be a formal bike rental agency for this year's ride, but there are bike shops in the Hudson Valley region that can offer personal bike rentals for.participants.
Required for all riding participants. All bicycles, hand cycles and recumbent bicycles used in Face of America Liberty must be inspected for safety prior to the ride beginning. Trained mechanics will inspect bicycles early Sunday morning at the north parking lot at West Point's Buffalo Soldier Field for participants. There will be no group bike storage available for this year's ride.
World T.E.A.M. Sports has arranged with the United States Military Academy at West Point free parking at the north lot at Buffalo Soldier Field for participating athletes and volunteers. This will allow participants to park their vehicles during the term of the ride.
The host hotel for the 2017 Face of America Liberty is the Fairbridge Inn & Suites, at 17 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928. It is located just south of the United States Military Academy. The hotel offers free in-room high speed wireless Internet service and parking.

To avoid any surprises during your overnight stay in the Hudson River Valley, here are some helpful tips:
Participants of Face of America Liberty who are not being met by friends or family in New York City should purchase return bus tickets to the host hotel in West Point. These tickets can be purchased at the time of registration or through the Face of America Liberty store. Price is $25 per seat.
Adaptive athletes will receive a seat at no cost as a part of registration.
The bus will leave New York City between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and will arrive at the north parking lot at Buffalo Soldier Field at West Point between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m., depending on traffic. If you are planning on flying home from either Newark or a New York airport on Sunday evening, you should plan on departing directly from the ride conclusion in Manhattan. Otherwise, be sure to schedule a flight later than 9:00 or 9:30 p.m. or on Monday morning. Be sure to arrange for a later flight if traveling with your bike.
A PDF format route map for the 2017 Face of America Liberty ride is available for downloading by registered participants by request beginning September 21. A digital email newsletter was sent to all registered riders containing a link to download this PDF format map. Please note this map is an overview of the course as permitted. The route may change up until the day of the ride. All riders are reminded to follow the pace car to avoid making a wrong turn.
Participating athletes are encouraged to download and use the free RaceJoy athlete tracking application. Offered in both iPhone and Android formats, this free service will track riders through their cell phone GPS service throughout the ride. This allows ride personnel to keep track of riders, as well as allowing the tracking and sending of encouraging text messages to the athlete during the event. The Face of America Liberty ride includes food for participants. In addition to food and drink provided at each rest stop, participants will enjoy the following meals as a part of registration:

Participating athletes will be provided a PDF format schedule. General Expense Guidelines for participating adaptive athletes at Face of America Liberty is also available for downloading in PDF format. For those who are unable to participate in the Saturday afternoon rider check-in, the primary rider check-in begins on Sunday morning at Buffalo Soldier Field at 6:00 a.m. The ride will depart at approximately 7:30 a.m. for Manhattan.
Riders participating in Face of America Liberty ride together in groups, with ride marshals and motorcycle escorts providing safety from oncoming and passing vehicle traffic. The ride caravan includes several SAG wagons - these are passenger vans pulling flatbed trailers that pick up riders and their bikes with bicycle mechanical problems or riders who are tired and are seeking a rest to the next rest stop. The caravan also includes a trained mechanic at rest stops to assist riders with any bicycle-related problems, including flat tires. Along the route, there are manned rest stops with porta-potty facilities and food and drink for participants.
Please be aware that private vehicles with family or friends are not permitted to travel along with the riders at Face of America Liberty. You may be ticketed by local law enforcement if you follow or drive with the riders, as our official ride permits allow for a specific number of accompanying vehicles.
Friends and family meeting participants at the conclusion of Face of America Liberty should drive to 1 World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.There is plenty of public parking in lots and on the street in this region of New York, particularly on a Sunday afternoon.
All adaptive athlete participants will need to arrange and cover costs of their own travel to and from West Point.

If you find you are unable to participate in Face of America Liberty, please contact us with your registration information and cancellation reason as soon as possible. World T.E.A.M. Sports only refunds registration fees for cancellations received by September 8. Credit card transaction fees are not refundable and refund payments are made through the account used for the registration. Donations are not refundable, but can be transferred to another athlete or team. There are no refunds for fees for cancellations processed after September 8.
Adaptive athletes who cancel their Face of America Liberty participation after any lodging reservations have been made on their behalf or after August 31 may be financially liable for the full amount of any lodging reservation. Contact our Face of America Liberty adaptive athlete coordinator to request a cancellation as soon as you know you cannot participate. If you cancel owing to a documentable medical emergency or condition, you should submit by email attachment a letter from your doctor or clinician stating you are unable to participate or to travel to the event to avoid being charged the cost of your cancelled lodging reservation. If you cancel owing to official military orders, you should provide official documentation.
