Face of America Rider Requirements

To participate in the 2017 Face of America, each cycling participant must meet or exceed their registration category fundraising minimum by check-in on Friday afternoon, April 28. Ride registration and meal/transportation ticket fees do not apply toward the fundraising total. In order to ride, those who have not met their minimum amount must pay the balance by check or by credit card at ride check-in in Arlington or in Valley Forge.

Teams may collectively choose to combine their fundraising to meet or exceed the minimum overall fundraising for the team by participant category. For teams that combine fundraising, each team member should contribute at least $10.00 toward the team's overall total.

Note that registered riders must ride in the route for which they are registered - athletes arriving at the incorrect check-in on Friday will be directed to the alternate city. It is a four hour drive in good traffic conditions between Valley Forge and Arlington.

Minimum fundraising by registration category (Classic and Northern routes):

  • Civilian Rider: $800.00
  • Civilian Youth Rider (age 12 to 17): $300.00
  • Military Veteran Rider: $500.00
  • AD Military/First Responder Rider: $500.00
  • Ride Marshal: $300.00
  • Adaptive Athlete with Disabilities: $100.00 suggested, no minimum
  • Adaptive Athlete Caregiver (non-riding): $100.00 suggested, no minimum
  • Volunteer: $100.00 suggested, no minimum
  • Virtual Participant: $100.00 suggested, no minimum

Note: Registration and meal/bus ticket fees do not apply toward the minimum.

Participants are responsible for making personal lodging arrangements for Friday and Saturday evenings. World T.E.A.M. Sports has arranged special room rates at the host hotels in Arlington and Valley Forge. Select hotel properties in Frederick, Maryland and in Lancaster, Pennsylvania also offer special room rates for reservations. Complete information about lodging opportunities can be found on our Event Logistics page.

The Friday commemorative banquets for our Classic and Northern routes is included in the registration fee. Riders are responsible for their Saturday night dinner in Frederick and in Lancaster. There are numerous restaurants within a short walk, ride or drive from the host hotels. Loop shuttle vans from World T.E.A.M. Sports will also provide transportation between popular restaurants and hotels in Frederick.

Riders can purchase a Sunday afternoon bus ticket to return to Arlington or to Valley Forge following lunch in Gettysburg. This $25 coach ticket is required for anyone taking the bus. Tickets are not available in Gettysburg. You may choose to have a family member or friend pick you up in Gettysburg or you may on Friday afternoon leave a car at the Allstar Expo Complex  at 2638 Emmitsburg Road in Gettysburg and so a return bus ticket will not be necessary. The ticket can be ordered at the time of registration or it can be added through the Face of America store. Buses leave Gettysburg at approximately 3:00 p.m. for Arlington and for Valley Forge. Be certain you are getting on the correct bus. There are no refunds for unused bus tickets.

Classic route participants from the north and west may find it helpful to leave their vehicles in Gettysburg on Friday afternoon. There is a chartered bus that will travel from the ride finish at the AllStar Expo Complex to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC-Crystal City in Arlington on Friday, April 28. The bus will depart the Expo Complex in Gettysburg at 11 a.m. and arrive at Arlington by mid-afternoon. Rider vehicles must be parked for the weekend in the southernmost (gravel) parking lot at the Expo Complex. This is free parking. World T.E.A.M. Sports does not charter this bus - it is coordinated by volunteer Anthony McDonald. Anyone interested in riding must contact Anthony directly by email message. Cost is $25 per seat. Anthony will provide by email communication full details regarding the Friday bus if requested. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are limited.
