Along the route, there are manned rest stops with porta-potty facilities and food and drink for participants.

Family and Friends Following the Route

This 150 acre facility at 2638 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325 is located on the south side of the Gettysburg National Military Park, along U.S. Highway 15. There is plenty of paved parking at the center, with a covered pavilion in case of inclement weather.

Adaptive Athlete Travel to and From Face of America

First-time participating athletes with disabilities and their caregivers from outside the Washington D.C. and Philadelphia metro regions are eligible for transportation assistance from World T.E.A.M. Sports. Our adaptive athlete travel coordinators will arrange with the athlete their personal transportation. This includes gas reimbursement for private vehicle travel or air reservations and ticketing at an agreed commercial airport for travel to and from Washington or Philadelphia.

Second and greater year adaptive athlete participants and registered caregivers will need to arrange and cover costs of their own travel. Optionally, these athletes may apply for assistance through World T.E.A.M. Sports' Adaptive Athlete Assistance Travel Fund. Limited funding is available for vehicle travel or air reservations and ticketing for these athletes and their accompanying registered caregivers, but applications must be submitted no later than Friday, February 3. To be considered, the athlete must send by email written documentation from their doctor that participation in Face of America is a part of their approved rehabilitation and care and that a caregiver is required for travel. Athletes receiving assistance awards will be contacted directly by an adaptive athlete coordinator. It is recommended requests for assistance are made early in the year for timely consideration.

Face of America Adaptive Athlete Expense GuidelinesCaregivers are defined as individuals specifically charged with providing care and assistance to disabled athletes. All caregivers are required to register for Face of America at no cost. Caregivers must list the athlete in their registration and the adaptive athlete must include the caregiver in their registration record.

Adaptive athletes are invited to download and review our PDF-format 2017 Face of America Expense Guidelines and Funding Assistance Request guide from our World T.E.A.M. Sports site. This guide provides details about expenses at Face of America, our adaptive athlete fundraising challenge and our Transportation Assistance Grants for returning adaptive athletes.

Participant Ride Cancellation

If you find you are unable to participate in Face of America, please contact us with your registration information and cancellation reason as soon as possible. World T.E.A.M. Sports only refunds registration fees for cancellations received by March 31. Credit card transaction fees are not refundable and refund payments are made through the account used for the registration. Adaptive veteran and civilian athletes who cancel their Face of America participation after any airline and/or lodging reservations have been made on their behalf or after March 15 may be financially liable for the full amount of their air travel, as well as the first night's lodging. Contact our Face of America adaptive athlete coordinator to request a cancellation as soon as you know you cannot participate. If you cancel owing to a documentable medical emergency or condition, you should submit by email attachment a letter from your doctor or clinician stating you are unable to participate or to travel to the event to avoid being charged the cost of your cancelled reservations.
